The new generation of Puma ST EcoBoost is ripe for tuning straight out of the box. With a completely standard ST running 99 RON fuel we have seen up to 250bhp and 360nm!
With some simple breathing modifications such as aftermarket cat back exhaust and intercooler, our 1R calibration can see even greater figures with up to 255bhp and 380nm on tap, incredible numbers for such a small outlay.
We are currently the only tuning company to offer two different maps in one, switchable via the sport button on the steering wheel. With our unique Push2Pass system, you get the full fat 250bhp and 360nm in Sport and Track modes, plus a slightly more mild 230bhp and 330nm in Normal and Slippery modes.

This MAXD Stage 1R workshop fitted remap is designed to run with the stock catalytic convertor and GPF still in place. It will run a totally stock vehicle or run with additional hardware such as the R-Sport Stage 2 Intercooler and R-Sport Air Filter Kit to produce up to 255bhp (Yes - that's 255 bhp on a stock catalyst!). We recommend high grade fuels only for Pumaspeed R spec maps, however if you only have access to 95 RON fuel, no problem, we can simply offer a slightly milder stage 1 file with a 5-10bhp and 10-15nm reduction to suit the lower quality fuel.
The price for the Stage 1R MAXD Pro Handset includes the following tuning files by default:
Stage 1R Cat Safe Crackle (High Boost) - Up to 255bhp and 380nm (99 RON), including an addictive refined overrun burble!
Stage 1R (High Boost) - Up to 255bhp and 380nm (99 RON), the ultimate remap to suit your stock or lightly tuned ST Mk8!
Stage 1 (Low Boost) - Up to 225bhp and 350nm (95 RON), with the default Ford OEM features.
Valet - Limited to a low speed, low boost level and low rev limit to restrict abuse.
Anti Theft - Prevents the car from being started, even with the key!
The brand new MAXD Pro Handset allows you total control of your vehicles ECU calibration without the use of any Windows PC to switch maps. With over 5,000 MAXD devices across all platforms sold worldwide for various Ford models you couldn't be in safer hands.
This stage 1R version of the MAXD device to suit your Puma ST contains a super safe engine calibration that runs a tiny lift in boost over the stock mapping but lifts torque and peak performance significantly by up to 55bhp and 90nm at peak levels to make the car feel effortlessly quick. The torque delivery below 2300rpm is very similar to stock meaning power isn't wasted away in wheelspin, once above this point in the rev range the additional power and torque is relentless and makes an incredible difference in day to day driving.
Not only has this tune proven itself to have the best performance increases available on the Puma ST, it also features unique features including on the road switchable mapping. Normal driving mode and Sport/Track mode have some very differing features that enhance the driving experience in a way only MAXD know how to do.
In normal mode the car is very much OEM+ with all eco features enabled such as cylinder deactivation and stop start whilst maintaining the performance everybody expects from the MAXD mapping calibrations. But hit the sport mode button and the car really comes alive with amplified crackles on overrun, sharper throttle response, more aggressive hardcut limiter, refined launch control and the full fat performance that MAXD has to offer!
Is the MAXD mapping warranty safe?
- Yes we believe so, the MAXD Pro handset has a unique feature, it allows you to read and store the original stock file on the device itself. This stored file can, at any time, be re-installed onto the car and the vehicle taken into Ford for any recall works with no footprint.
Is the handset easy to use and install on and off the car?
- Absolutely, the device needs very little user interaction. Once the initial install is complete which requires the use of a Windows PC, and the maps programmed to the device, the handset can be used as a standalone remapping device with very straightforward instuctions included.
Can I upgrade the maps to a higher level?
- Yes the benefit of the Pro system is that MAXD can easily send you upgraded files from the stage 2 and even stage 3 catalogue as you upgrade the hardware to suit, for just a small cost.
Can MAXD write a custom file to suit my list of mods?
- Yes the in house calibration specialists at MAXD can tailor a mapping to suit you and your driving style. Whilst MAXD research and development does run through most case scenarios there will always be the requirement for that one off special, please get in touch for pricing and availability on any custom maps.
Can I use the device on more than one vehicle?
- The MAXD Pro handset locks itself to your vehicles VIN number and cannot be used on another vehicle until it has been unpaired from that original vehicle. In the event you come to sell your car, you can unpair the handset and reuse on your next car, or sell the device on.
Can I use different fuels?
- MAXD maps are available for 95 RON, 98/99 RON and by request 102 RON high quality fuel. We make them freely available but warn that running the wrong fuel to mapping combination can be dangerous.
Does the mapping affect the immobiliser?
- MAXD maps will not affect the vehicle immobiliser in any way.
Do we think its the best?
- The simple answer is YES, Pumaspeed and internet forum owner testing has shown all the MAXD mappings to be higher powered than every other branded mapping, including some very well known names.
